Sympathy cards are hardest to make

These cards are always hard to make - not because of layout or color or anything logistically. They are hard to make because of the reason they are being made. This card was made for my daughter's boyfriend who just lost his father to cancer. His dad was an outdoorsy kind of guy so I chose this retired stamp for an outdoorsy kind of card.

All products Stampin' Up!

Stamps: Noble Deer and Warmest Regards- retired
Paper/Ink: Sahara Sand, Handsome Hunter, Brocade Blue cardstock; watercolor paper
Stazon black ink; Sahara Sand, Chocolate Chip, Artichoke, Brocade Blue for watercoloring
Accessories: Hodgepodge Hardware and 5/8" Brocade Blue grosgrain ribbon

Birthdays are Best

3 of the 4 children belonging to my brother and sister-in-law have birthdays within 10 days of each other and all in January and February. Yesterday's card was my nephew's. Today's card is the one I will be sending my 3, soon to be 4 year old niece. Granted I use a retired butterfly set called Flutterbys but it can be easily reproduced.

You can't see it in the photo but the butterfly is cut out and the wings are folded up to give the card dimension.

All supplies are Stampin' Up! except for the rhinestones and glitter.

Stamp Sets: Flutterbys and It's Your Birthday - both retired
Paper/Ink: Lavender Lace, Certainly Celery, White cardstock
Pixie Pink, Lavender Lace ink
Accessories: 1 ¼" and 1 3/8" square punches, 5/8" celery ribbon, Stickles and pink rhinestones

B is for Birthday

My 5 - soon to be 6 year old nephew has a birthday coming up soon so I made him this card.
I love these large square cards even though they take more postage.

I used 2 of Stampin' Up!'s new In Colors - Pacific Point and Riding Hood Red. I love using this color combo for "boy" cards.

To make the glitter balloon, I stamped and cut out the balloon from the long ago retired Celebrate stamp set. I then "painted it" with crystal effects and sprinkled glitter all over it. Once it was dry I tied the blue hemp and adhered it to the card.

All products are Stampin' Up! except for the blue metallic stick-ons

Stamp Sets: B is for Birthday and Celebrate - a retired stamp set
Paper and Ink: Pacific Point, Riding Hood Red and White
Accessories: Pacific Point Ribbon, Blue hemp, crystal effects and dazzling diamond glitter, blue metallic stick-ons
Stampin' dimensionals

Glad to be bloggin' again,

I'm Back!

Well after a long time away from blogging, I have come back! Hopefully, I can be more faithful this time around.
And now for my latest card. I followed this weeks sketch and color combination from splitcoast stampers. I really love this stamp set and forget to use it (until now!)
