Blue Hydrangeas

Well I love blue hydrangeas and a few years ago I finally planted, not one, but two bushes in my yard. They have grown and flourished and produced some beautiful blue flowers. But I found out this year that blue hydrangeas need water and water is scarce this summer so my poor bushes have produced little piddlin flowers - not at all what I was looking forward to! And droopy, the bushes are so droopy. Yes I know I should be watering them and I have but with the summer we are having I would be watering all of the time and I just can't do it.

So I sat down today to make a card for One Layer Wednesday and I kept being pulled to the hydrangea stamp found in the SU hostess set, Because I Care. I tried to stamp a card with other flower stamps (I have plenty. lol) I really did, but nothing was working so I just went with my first choice.

Before I show you my card let me explain the challenge. It had to be a square card - no problem there cause I love square cards! It also had to be a line image with coloring it in as optional. You know me. I LOVE to color but I decided, no doggone it, I am going to just let the ink do the work. And finally the card had to be one layer, minimum embellishments. Bring it on!

Yes the center of the flower is intentionally faded. Actually that is the true color, I just added extra  color to the edges.

All supplies are Stampin' Up!
  • Because I Care stamp set - Hostess
  • Vanilla cardstock
  • Wild Wasabi  and Marina Mist markers

Have a blessed day! Stay tuned for some more projects this week.

This is such a pretty image, I like how you colored yours to be faded in the middle.
