Control Freaks Blog Tour - Birthday Theme

Welcome to the February Tour de Freaks where it's all about Birthdays - something we can all relate to! Officially the tour begins tomorrow, February 20th so please come back when all the kinks are worked out.

If you have arrived from the mega talented Mary Brown (stampercamper)'s blog, then you are at the right place. If you have just joined the Tour, don't worry. The tour goes full circle so just follow the links.

I chose to focus on a child's birthday because I work with children, and besides - what child doesn't love a birthday?! And, since most children love animals (as do I!), I combined the two for a fun, animal, birthday theme.
Various punches and embossing folders were used to create the 3 little carts on this zoo themed birthday card. Each cart holds a different animal from Fox and Friends - a perfect stamp set for this type of theme!

Every party needs party favors right? Of course! So I took the embossed cart idea from the birthday card and made it 3 dimensional by using the Top Note die and lots of circle punches.

A cello bag filled with animal crackers and tied off with twine and a tag fits in each cart.
ETA: A brief tutorial will be posted on Feb. 22.

And for that special birthday gift, I made a zoo themed gift bag, using the same punches, Top Note die and Fox and Friends stamp! The gift bag is a Genie Bag (named for its originator), and is simply a trimmed lunch bag that is covered, front and back, with cardstock. The handle at the top is punched out with a square punch.
To make the cart on the front of my bag, I used the Top Note die and cut 2 from Tempting Turquoise cardstock - one embossed, one not. I cut these in half, trimmed the center from the non-embossed half, and adhered them over the Whisper White cardstock. To stamp the animals, I used masks and stamped them on the Whisper White cardstock before I added the "cart".

Stamps: Fox and Friends, Bring on the Cake (Occasions Mini)
Paper: Play Date dsp, Chocolate Chip, Daffodil Delight, Tempting Turquoise, Whisper White cardstock
Ink: Tempting Turquoise, Daffodil Delight, Chocolate Chip, Peach Parfait, Old Olive, More Mustard
Other: Big Shot, Top Note die, Finial Press tief, Perfect Polka Dots tief, Square Lattice tief, 1 3/8", 1 1/4", 1", 3/4", 1/2" circle punches, Curly Label Punch, Wide Oval and Large oval punch, 1 3/8" square punch, brads, hemp twine, Mini Glue dots, Jumbo eyelets, Large Choc. Chip brad, Daffodil Delight Satin Ribbon, Small Cello bags, dimensionals, buttons, 1/8" Daffodil Delight ribbon

Thanks for hanging in there with me! I am sure by now you are anxious to move on to the next stop on the Tour de Freaks! The next stop just happens to be the blog owned and operated by another mega talented stamper, Jan Tinklenberg (Jan Tink). Just click on her name or on the link below to continue the Tour. Have fun!
I hope you will come back and see me soon!
